A local newspaper in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) in Fujian province has reviewed some important events regarding Pingtan's communication and business cooperation with overseas countries and regions in 2014.

Jan 8: A shipping company holds a meeting in Quanzhou city to provide a brief on the business of the Haixia, a high-speed roll-on/roll-off passenger ferry that commutes between Pingtan, Taichung and Taipei on a daily basis.

March 21: Shell carvings from Pingtan catch a lot of attention and receive a number of orders at the 49th National Artware Trade Fair in Fuzhou city, Fujian province.

March 28-April 3: Pingtan’s officials lead an economic and trade delegation to Taiwan to learn development experiences from famous Taiwan enterprises and promote Pingtan’s sound business climate.

April 1: The PCPZ’s head, Li Dejin, visits Wu Po-hsiung, honorary chairman of the Kuomintang and Lin Join-sane, chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, in Taiwan.

May 7: Pingtan’s officials pay a visit to Shenzhen city in Guangdong province in a bid to promote Pingtan’s preferential business policies for investors.

June 3: Pingtan and Kunshan city in Jiangsu province sign a strategic cooperation frame agreement, pledging to collaborate in policy-sharing, resources and personnel exchange, as well as industrial development.

July 7: Pingtan’s officials visit Taiwan again and meet with business leaders and representatives from various industries.

August 21: Pingtan’s officials head for Hong Kong for a four-day commercial campaign that aims to attract more enterprises and multinational corporations in Hong Kong to invest in Pingtan.

Nov 19: Argyle Hotel Group, one of the premier hotel management agencies in Australia, announces it will set up a five-star hotel in Pingtan.

Nov 28: The Pingtan subsidiary of Taiwan’s Delta Electronics is inaugurated and becomes the first settler at a business incubator in Pingtan.
